LA Programs Pet Super Adoption Festivals are among the largest pet adoption events in the country with upwards of 60 participating rescue organizations and shelters and with a thousand beautiful animals to choose from. The events serve the shelter and the rescue community, by finding homes for hundreds of dogs, cats, birds and bunnies, including many who would otherwise die in a shelter. The annual walk and festival is unique in that the proceeds go directly to the rescue organizations that are participating.  Using a pledge system allows teams of participants to raise funds for their chosen organization with the help of Best Friends to promote, market and coordinate the event. In 2011, SYM raised nearly $500,000 for animal charities across the nation, $234,000 in Los Angeles alone.

Produced in partnership with Downtown Dog Rescue, Neighborhood Pit Bull Day serves residents of low income communities who already own pit bull type dogs and provides them with free spay/neuter, micro-chipping, leashes and collars, training opportunities, and resources to help them meet the needs of their dogs and to be a responsible dog owner.

Community Adoptions are held every weekend at local parks, humane pet stores and businesses throughout L.A. County. These adoptions are designed to showcase the dogs & cats within the BFLA program as well as provide independent rescuers with a venue to showcase homeless dogs and cats with the leadership and support of Best Friends' staff, volunteers, and rescue partners.
